Girl Scouts

The Girl Scout program is girl-driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of participating girls. It provides girls with a wide variety of opportunities. The program encourages increased skill building and responsibility, and also promotes the development of strong leadership and decision-making skills.

There are five age levels in Girl Scouting: Daisy Girl Scouts, ages 5-6; Brownie Girl Scouts, ages 6-8; Junior Girl Scouts, ages 8-11; Cadette Girl Scouts, ages 11-14; and Senior Girl Scouts, ages 14-17. We have all five groups active at St. John's.

The Girl Scouts meet during the school year on Mondays from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. In our regular meetings we work on yearning badges, try-its, and patches. This usually involves trying new things. We also go camping, have a father/daughter dance, Thinking Day, and many other fun activities. We participate in Girl Scout Sunday and in the Memorial Day service. Our fundraisers include nut sale and cookie sale. Community service is a big part of our program and the girls enjoy helping others.
